It’s time to prank the summer camp counselor. Because OpenAI flew a crop of fashion influencers to Wildflower Farms, a $1,200-a-night resort in Upstate NY. The all-expenses trip included beekeeping, berry picking, and Get Ready With Me for a Data Center Tour. The reaction to the sponsored content the influencers posted? Not good. You can pay for the content, but you can’t control the comments…

This 1st US robotaxi built with no steering wheel, no pedals, no windshield wipers, & no mirrors. Zoox’s robotaxi has been testing in Las Vegas, Austin, and San Francisco since last year, but launches for real this Monday with paid customers. This will be the 4th robocab on the market, but the 1st driving a purpose-built vehicle.

Like a toaster oven had a baby with the Pixar lamp.
Zoox's parent? It’s Amazon, which bought it in 2020 for $1.2B. Amazon hasn’t disclosed the value of Zoox today, but Waymo is worth $126B and Tesla is worth 10x that — so a $1.2B bet on the category looks cheap now.
Meanwhile, Amazon stock is having the best year of any Mag 7 stock: up 18% in 2026 while its buddies are up less than 4%.
THE TAKEAWAY: Amazon has become Berkshire Hathaway, but for everything tech
Berkshire is a curated collection of boring but profitable physical companies. Amazon's doing the same thing, but across tech: It’s Top 3 in just about every booming sector of this economy: Live sports (Thursday Night Football on Prime), Healthcare (One Medical & Amazon Pharmacy), cloud computing (AWS), satellite internet (LEO), music/media (MGM/Audible), and now self-driving cars. And it owns 27% of Anthropic, 12% of Rivian, and 7% of OpenAI.

Triple-dippering is now a verb… because Chili’s stock just hit an all-time high #ATH, up 59% so far this year. We think it’s thanks to the Chief Information Officer’s contrarian move:
“We’re not all-in on AI”
Chili’s told the WSJ they came up with a few dozen AI use cases, but only tested 6. His test? Does it enhance the customer experience. He’s letting AI try to handle inventory orders, but won’t let it handle customer orders.

THE TAKEAWAY: AI is a plate of Sloppy Nachos right now
At first, the AI experiments happening right now look tasty… but as you dig into the details it becomes a hot mess. There are a few perfect chips with cheese and a big payoff — just like there are some AI success stories (like Pringles, which we told you about yesterday). But hype, followed by frustration, is the bulk of the cases we’re seeing. Like the plain and now messy chips under the top layer of your nachos.

11. That’s how many times Fox name-dropped the World Cup in its earnings— the $485M broadcast deal drove a 78% jump in ad revenue, 2x'd TV profit, and sent Fox stock up 6% Thursday. But the bigger number was buried a few pages later…
Tubi, Fox's free ad-supported streamer, now has 110M monthly viewers. And Tubi’s style is wild:
Netflix is spending $20B this year on content, Tubi is spending under $200M, 1% as much.
While Netflix has Queen Charlotte: a Bridgerton Story, Tubi has Dog: the Bounty Hunter. New releases for Netflix, Re-runs for Tubi.
Tubi licenses decade-old movies instead of prestige originals and simply monetizes through ads. You can watch for free.

THE TAKEAWAY: Every industry needs its Walmart - and its Adam Sandler.
Adam Sandler doesn’t dress fancy and his best stuff is 20-30 years old… but he’s also the most popular? That’s Tubi. Because, as Walmart proves, most consumers make a decision with price as the most important factor. Every industry needs its Walmart, which is Tubi in the case of TV. Adam Sandler approves.
BESTIESother fantastic stories we love but couldn't fit into the pod
